Name: Po Yeng

Bending Skill: Crafting—Po Yeng can craft a number of relatively useless things from found materials. Nothing of particular note, but everything is definitely well-made.
Personality: Po Yeng is an extremely positive, optimistic fellow. He is always looking on the bright side, even when things look awfully bleak, and to that extent he is also a bit naïve. He tends on the side of gullible, and many of his beliefs are poorly founded on propaganda; he is easily convinced of something completely untrue as long as it fits in with what he already supports. A hopeful romantic at heart, Po has a tendency to fall all over himself if faced with a lovely woman who shows even the slightest interest in him—he'll talk her ear off about his favorite subject if he doesn't outrun his brain and gets stuck on words like a very bad cart on a road full of ditches. The only time you'll ever see Po in a less-than-pleasant mood is if his past failures are brought up—or if he gets on a rant about the government being unfair. In general, though, Po is a sweet but rather misguided man.
Their Past: Po Yeng grew up in a rather extensive family of nobles. Constantly reminded that the government of their fair city of Jingdou is the best in the whole world, he grew up idolizing the various members of the ruling body of the city and became somewhat of a fanboy as he got older. He knew just about everything there was to publicly know about the government—members, policies, yearly changes, anything. His goal quickly became clear; he one day wanted to be a part of this grand system.

After many, many attempts, Po finally landed a job as a secretary; he adored this position. One could safely say he was one of the best secretaries one could ask for. He held this job for several years, happily working in the government he so idolized.

Unfortunately, his fatal step came at a noble party which he was attending. He was approached by a woman whose very interest in him left him dazzled and he found himself swept to a corner, babbling happily to her about all the miscellaneous facts he knew about the government. Unbeknownst to him, however, this woman was a particularly unpleasant member of Kesuk Qilaq, and when Po was not paying attention, she slipped some alcohol into his drink. Once intoxicated, his babbling quickly turned to spilling secrets about the government. The woman promised to keep what he had said secret (see events HERE).

However, he was soon approached by his superiors and informed that they knew about his slip up. They promptly fired him, sending him out a shamed and bitter man.

Their Present: Po spent the next few years hopping from job to job. He worked anywhere he could; desk jobs, janitorial duties, noodle shops, anywhere they would hire him for any period of time. All this time, however, he stewed about losing his job over a simple mistake. Finally he grew tired of constantly having to find a new job and decided he would take some more serious action--he wanted to do something to get back at the people who fired him. One night, he resolved that he would sneak into his old boss' office and wreak a bit of havoc--that would certainly teach him not to fire a perfectly good secretary. However, when he snuck in, he encountered someone else who also had business in his boss' office--Jinhai's own Amahl. After a short scuffle in which Po was interrogated about his purpose and his knowledge of the government buildings, Po was knocked out. When he awoke, he found himself in the Jinhai complex, being given the option of returning to the life he was already tired of or staying with Jinhai. Needless to say, he decided to stay with Jinhai.

Their Future: At the moment, Po would really like to get back at the government--he's just still working out how to do that, since his original plan fell through. In the meantime, though, he intends to put his skills to good use in a gang. And since gangs aren't exactly kosher with the government...well, he's pretty happy with where he is.

Other Notes:

• As one might expect, Po as a healthy dislike of most gang members. He has come to terms with members of Jinhai, but he is very unlikely to trust someone if he knows they're from another gang.


• He's also become very vocal about his confusion about and frustration with the government. He used to idolize it, but since he was fired for a small mistake, he's grown more and more bitter about it. He'll often go on rants about what he used to believe and what he now realizes about the government of Jingdou. ...Not all of it is completely right, of course, as he's wont to believe most anything that supports his beliefs, but that's another matter entirely.


• Very often, when Po gets going on a speech, it is extremely difficult to stop him. This tends to happen when he is monologue-ing about something he knows a lot about.


• YES, Po still has his tiny glasses and his hat. His eyesight isn't terrible, but he does need his glasses for reading. His original pair of glasses was broken when he was fired, so he had to get a new pair, but he wears them less frequently since he is doing less secretarial work. His hat, on the other hand, is only used for special occasions.


• Po secretly enjoys making things. His very small house is full of random things he has made. When he is upset, bored, or over-excited (and there's no one to talk to), he will revert to cranking out small craft items like a pleasant little machine.
